Description:
For sale is a very nice Colt 1873 SAA in .45 caliber with a 4 3/4" barrel. Serial number 198940 shows the date of manufacture as 1900. The revolver is correct in all aspects. Has the two-line patient dates on the frame together with ramping colt within the circle. The action is crisp and indexes perfectly. Unique, non-factory ivory grips have been fitted to the gun. On the left side is a very nicely carved steer head, and a U.S. ten cents, circa 1912 inlaid into the grip. The right ivory grip displays a U.S. ten-cent piece dated 1865 and a Mexican coin dated 1903.
The Colt Factory Letter shows the revolver was shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, and Bartlett in Chicago. The revolver was later distributed to a western Montana dealer where it was sold and remained in the state.
Overall condition is very good with approximately 90% of the original blueing remaining.
