Colt Single Action Army .45Colt. – 1877, WELLS FARGO, FIRST GEN, ORIGINAL, vintage firearms
Description:
General Specs: Colt, 1877, .45Colt, 33oz., Barrel 5 1/2"
Serial Number: 39877
This is an original First-Generation Colt Single Action Army (SAA) Revolver in .45 caliber. The Colt Peacemaker Model 1873 was the mainstay of the Frontier. This Colt is serial number 39877, it was manufactured in 1877. It features U.S. Ordnance Inspector David F. Clark’s inspection initials on the barrel underside. The assembly number 9597 is plainly visible on the frame and loading gate, please view the high-definition pictures for all the details. This SAA is untouched by the restorer’s hands, the early wrought iron frame has seen its factory finish go to a pleasant silver, its 5 ½” barrel shows 50% fading blue, the bore has rifling and some areas of flaking but is still mostly shiny. The gun is NOT in shooting condition, while the action works, and there are four distinctive hammer clicks, and the cylinder rotates, the lock-up is not tight. This is a gun that you should own because of its distinctive markings and the history encompassed in its condition. This is a gun that was holstered, drawn and re-holstered thousands of times throughout its service, by an agent of The WELLS FARGO & Co BANK. It has not been locked in a safe for a lucky treasure seeker to stumble upon, it has spent its life out on the trails. Just imagine where this gun has been and the stories it could tell! The gun likely traveled the West, in the days when cowboys and drifters where gambling in the saloon and gunfighting in the streets, and stagecoach holdups were a regular occurrence! This is a gun that has earned its almost 150 years of service good merit badge. What a unique piece of American history to showcase with your collection. Review the images and specifications bellow but don’t ‘hold up’ for too long or this Colt will have bolted! Thanks for looking!
