Colt Single Action Army Civilian Model, 1878 Production with Factory Letter and Great Grandson Letter SAA
Description: This Colt was produced in 1878. The pistol's serial number is 44570. It has the standard 7 1/2 inch barrel and chambered for the 45 Colt cartridge. The barrel has the one line address on top of the barrel. The bore is in good condition with sharp lands. The chambers are also in good condition with no pitting. The original hammer has no repairs and all of the cocks are intact with no damage. This hammer still has traces of color cased finish. The action works very fine with no issues. This old Colt still locks up tight! The cylinder base pin has the correct smal hole at each end. The one piece wood grips are correctly serial numbered to this pistol. The cylinder, trigger guard and back strap are all serial numbered to this Colt. All the screws are in fine condition with no burring. The ejector rod has the correct bulls eye ejector head. This pistol is mostly in a light patina finish. There is original bluing in protected areas. This Colt has seen much holster wear and no abuse. The wood grips retain about 70% of the original varnish. There is a well worn chip on the bottom forward part of the right grip. The factory letter states that this pistol was shipped to Hibbard, Spencer & Co. Chicago Illinois. April 2 1880. I also have a letter from the Great Grandson of the original owner. The Rancher was in Gove County Kansas. His name was Link Sturman. It is not often that you can trace an old Colt to the original owner! Here is one you can! This is certainly a Collector grade pistol in fine working order that has not been messed with. The two letters also help with the history of this fine Colt. SOLD Antique: Yes Handgun Caliber: .45 |
