Colt Single Army .45cal, 1907 Factory Engraved
Description: This is Texas at it’s very best, a real collectors dream. This gun should be in a museum. The gun was ordered from Colt, By Wells Fargo May 4th 1907, they asked for it to be Engraved, to be a, .45LC, 5 1/2 inch barrel, with “Presented to C. Cain, Houston, Texas, June 1, 1907 “on the back strap, with real Pearl Grips, To be shipped to F.L. Selleck Assistant Superintendent Wells Fargo and Company Houston, Texas May 22, 1907. Wells Fargo presented it to Charlie Cain on June 7, 1907, At an ward’s Dinner. Charlie Cain was a very interesting person, a true Texan, he worked for Peden Iron and Steel Company in San Antonio , and Houston Texas, his job was to work hand and hand with Wells Fargo supplying railroad track for Wells Fargo Railroad. Charlie did such a good job for Wells Fargo had the gun made special for him, Charlie Cain was the person that got the Fredericksburg Texas railroad built. As a reward they named Cain City Texas, after him. Charlie Cain had a big influence on Texas back then. THE gun also made its way to Florence Arizona. The gun is well known in Florence, There has been a couple stories on how the gun got to Florence, it seems like one story is that a relative of Charlie Cain was put in prison here. Tom Bamrick was a prison Guard in Florence. The gun ended up in Tom Bamrick’s possession. There is a picture of a hand written letter from the elderly Gentleman I got the gun from, who was young man then, where the letter goes in more detail. Tom Bamrick and Gene Autry were Ranching and making movies in Florence Arizona, The letter is good reading. There is a picture of Tom Bamrick with other cow hands and Gene Autry, Also a copy of the Colt Letter and a copy of the special order to Colt on the Gun. This Gun is a true part of Texas History.
