ANTIQUE Allen & Thurber WORCHESTER PERIOD Bar Hammer PEPPERBOX Revolver First American Double Action Revolving Pistol
Description: ANTIQUE Allen & Thurber WORCHESTER PERIOD Bar Hammer PEPPERBOX Revolver First American Double Action Revolving Pistol Here we present an antique Allen & Thurber Bar Hammer 5-shot Pepperbox Revolving Pistol, made circa 1850 in Worcester, Massachusetts. It was during the Worcester period (Ethan Allen moved from Grafton to Norwich to Worcester) that the five-shot pepperbox was introduced. Percussion nipples were integrated to the barrels. Made with a bar hammer and standard trigger, models have been encountered with or without an integral nipple shield. .32 was the most common caliber. The five barrel is relatively rare compared to the six-barrel models. Ethan Allen was already a prolific inventor and successful businessman in the 1830s when he came up with this design. This percussion, five-shot, double-action pocket revolver was a very popular pistol that was produced in Worcester, Massachusetts. It’s a 32-caliber pepperbox with a revolving screw off fluted barrel and has factory engravings in a floral motif executed on both sides of the frame. Made from 1847-1854, these pistols enjoyed even greater popularity than Sam Colt’s first pistol. The history that these pistols enjoyed over the years is astounding: the Seminole Wars, Gold Rush, Mexican War and American Civil War. These guns are true relics of American history. The overall condition is very good. The action functions properly. The bores are dark and smooth. The frame is lightly engraved from the factory. The finish has matured to a smooth and pleasing gray patina. A fantastic piece of American craftsmanship from before the War Between the States! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-1/8 inches. Caliber: .32 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1275 #20382 SOLD Antique: Yes |
