Antique Bacon Arms Company 6 Shot .22 Pepperbox
Description: This is the nicest Bacon Arms pepperbox derringer I've ever seen. It's Six Shot .22 in nice condition. Has original factory Ivory grips, which show age lines but are not chipped or discolored. It is the early model without a loading port. It cocks, indexes, and locks up tight. All markings are crisp and clear. Barrels 2 1/2" long. Total of about 1000 manufactured in the 1860's. This cartridge pistol avoided the Smith & Wesson Rollin White patent issue as the barrels themselves chambered the cartridges. In more than fifty years of involvement in antiquarian pistols and revolvers I have only seen a dozen or so of these, and most of them did not function properly. This is the only one I have ever seen with original ivory grips. A truly nice looking example sold as a collector's item only and like all other 19th century guns should be checked by a competent gunsmith prior to any usage. Antique and does not require an FFL under Federal law. Buyer states he is legally able to acquire and possess this gun under local law. An infinitely better investment than nearly any other medium. $1850 plus $12 basic Priority Mail. Trades possible! SOLD Antique: Yes Handgun Caliber: .22 Short |
