Antique CIVIL WAR Era SHARPS Model 4 .32 Caliber Rimfire PEPPERBOX Revolver 4 Shot Self Defense Pocket Gun
Description: Antique CIVIL WAR Era SHARPS Model 4 .32 Caliber Rimfire PEPPERBOX Revolver 4 Shot Self Defense Pocket Gun Here we present an antique Sharps & Hankins Model 4 Pepperbox Revolver in .32 Long Rimfire, made circa 1859 to 1874 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Basically, the only major difference between the Model 3 and the Model 4 Pepperbox was the chambering. The Model 3 was chambered for the .32 Short Rimfire, while the Model 4 was chambered for the .32 Long Rimfire. Christian Sharps invented his famously namesake large bore, breech-loading rifle in 1848, after practicing gun-making under John Hall at Harpers Ferry Armory. In 1859, he premiered another unique design in the 4-barreled pepperbox pistol with a unique revolving firing pin, made for 19th Century concealed carry. This repeating design was able to utilize the new rimfire ammunition like Smith & Wesson, without infringing on Smith & Wesson’s Rollin White Patent for bored through chambers on a revolver’s cylinder. This gave Sharps a leg up in the market since everyone else either had to produce single shot pistols, come up with an alternate ammunition and weapon design, or just stick with percussion until the patent expired. They made very nice, easy to use and compact firearms for 19th Century conceal and carry! The overall condition is good. The action (hammer/trigger) functions, although the firing pin rotates intermittently. The bores are in good shape. Both grips are firm. The numbers match. Here is a neat Civil War era pistol that would have been great in the role of a hideout gun! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-1/2 inches. Caliber: .32 Long Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1375 #201265 SOLD Antique: Yes |
