Antique NEW ORLEANS GAMBLING SET by Diamond Star
Pistol, Knives, Chips, Dice & Cards Encased!
Description: Antique NEW ORLEANS GAMBLING SET by Diamond Star Pistol, Knives, Chips, Dice & Cards Encased! Here we present an antique Diamond Star Gaming Co. of St. Louis Gambling Set with Cards, Dice, Chips, Knives and an Allen & Wheelock Pepperbox, manufactured circa 1856-1865 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Ethan Allen was already a prolific inventor in the 1830s when he came up with this design. His business was very successful. These revolvers enjoyed even greater popularity than Sam Colt’s first designs. The history that these pistols enjoyed over the years is astounding: the Seminole Wars, Gold Rush, Mexican War and American Civil War. These guns are true relics of American history. The gambling set includes a wooden case marked as made by Diamond Star Gaming Co. of St. Louis and was owned by Ned Jaque from New Orleans with a deck of Diamond Star cards, dice, poker chips with the owner’s initials on them “NJ”, a powder flask, a pearl handled Joseph Allen & Son Sheffield dagger with sheath, and a folding knife. The case has a hand-marked placard on the lid that reads “Ned Jaquè/New Orleans” and the bottom has an old adhesive sticker dated 1868 from the steamer Kate Henderson captained by J.T. Campbell. We found this reference to the Kate Henderson in the book The Darkest Days of the Civil War, 1864 and 1865 by Frederick W. Fout: ‘On the morning after our arrival in Parkersburg, we got transportation on the river steamer “Kate Henderson”, a small, wretched, old boat that we were reluctant to board.’ The overall condition for the set is very good. This set was used but has weathered the last Century beautifully. The revolver is in good condition. Even plum patina. Clear markings. Smooth, solid grips. Smooth, dark bores. Strong action. Here is the perfect gift for the rogue in your life and would make a great talking piece and display for the office or library! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-3/4 inches. Caliber: .31 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3925 #190002 SOLD Antique: Yes |
