Antique Unmarked .36 Cal. POCKET SIZED 6-Shot Percussion PEPPERBOX Pistol 1850s RIVERBOAT GAMBLER Self Defense Pistol
Description: Antique Unmarked .36 Cal. POCKET SIZED 6-Shot Percussion PEPPERBOX Pistol 1850s RIVERBOAT GAMBLER Self Defense Pistol Here we present an antique Ring Trigger Percussion Pepperbox Pistol, made circa the 1850s. Looking at this little pepperbox, one thinks of a little revolver used by a riverboat gambler playing in a card game steaming down the Mississippi river in the mid-1800s, to be pulled out and fired point blank if the need arose. This type gun was truly one of the first repeaters when everyone else was using a single shot pistol, with each chamber having its own percussion cap and ball. Named because of its resemblance to a household pepper grinder, the first pepperbox pistols were produced around 1790, and unlike this one, were fired by rotating the barrel by hand. These little revolvers were in their heyday from about 1830 until roughly around the time of the American Civil War. The history that these pistols enjoyed over the years is astounding: the Seminole Wars, Gold Rush, Mexican War and American Civil War. These guns are true relics of American history. The overall condition is good. The action does not function: there is tension in the hammer but no tension in the trigger or sear. The bores are in good shape. Both grips are seated firmly and show off their maturity. The frame is lightly engraved with traditional floral designs. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-1/2 inches. Caliber: .36 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $735 #201368 SOLD Antique: Yes |
