4-Shot Ring Trigger Deringer Type Pistol

Here we present an antique Remington-Elliot .32 Caliber Pepperbox Pistol, made circa the 1870s in Ilion, New York. Manufactured from 1863 to 1888, this is a four shot, .32 caliber ring trigger pistol using a cluster of stationary barrels and a revolving firing pin, similar in concept to the Sharps Pepperboxes.
This pepperbox is functionally double action only, with the concealed hammer operated entirely by the motion of the ring trigger. The grip section is contoured so the butt rests on the ring finger. This repeating design was able to utilize the new rimfire ammunition like Smith & Wesson, without infringing on Smith & Wesson’s Rollin White Patent for bored through chambers on a revolver’s cylinder. They made very nice, easy to use and compact firearms for 19th century conceal and carry.

The overall condition is very good. Excellent action. Bright bores. Both grips are in good shape. Nicely refinished. Sharp markings. Numbers match. Here is a pretty piece of history.
