Sharps Model 1 Pepperbox Pistol - 4 Barrel, 22 Short, SN 21695, 1859-1862

Description:
Original C. Sharps Model 1 four-barrel pepperbox 22 short pistol, manufactured in Philadelphia.

Serial number 21695, placing it within the first third of Model 1 production.  Matching serial numbers on the Frame & Barrel.  The underside barrel release confirms early manufacture between 1859–1862, a desirable early configuration.

Condition: Excellent working condition.  Action indexes and locks correctly, trigger functions properly, barrels show honest age patina, brass frame retains strong color.  Grips are solid and intact with no chips or cracks.  No refinishing or over-polishing observed.

C. Sharps pepperbox pistols were popular personal-defense arms of the pre- and early-Civil War era.  A true gun of the Old West.  It is associated with gamblers, ladies of the evening, and as a hide-out gun of the outlaws and lawmen of the time.  Early examples in sound mechanical condition are increasingly difficult to find.
