FRENCH Antique Michel JAVELLE .22 Cal. RF Double Action POCKET Revolver
Mid-1800s Conceal and Carry Revolver
Description: FRENCH Antique Michel JAVELLE .22 Cal. RF Double Action POCKET Revolver Mid-1800s Conceal and Carry Revolver Here we present an antique French Javelle Double Action Pinfire Pocket Revolver, manufactured in St. Etienne, France circa the 1850s-60s. Michel Javelle was a gunsmith in St. Etienne during the middle of the 19th century. This little self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy city of Paris, London, or Liege during the tumultuous times of the mid-1800s. These type pistols are small, light and simple. The “Pocket Pistol” name says it all. They were the "Saturday Night Specials" of the 16th-19th century. Before the Deringer, they were "Gentleman's" or "Muff Pistols", typically, a smaller pistol that was easily concealed. They were favored among the gentry and women because of these traits. Men would carry them concealed in a waistcoat pocket and women would hide them in a hand muff. Many of these style pistols saw service in the American Civil War when both side were in need of any weapon that would fire in the early stages of the conflict. The overall condition is good. Plum patina. The action is excellent. Shiny bright bore. Solid grip. Worn, but legible markings. This example has been converted to .22 rimfire. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5-5/8 inches. Caliber: .22 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1000 #240446 SOLD Antique: Yes |
