Harrington & Richardson Model 1 1/2, .32 cal revolver
Description:
Scarce H&R Model 1 1/2 revolver, serial number 2556 (all matching including the cylinder and cylinder pin). An example of the first gun designed by H&R after taking over production from Wesson & Harrington. The gun carries the May 23, 1876 patent date. The designation "Model 1 1/2" indicates that it is a 5-shot, .32 rim fire caliber. It has a semi-sawhandle grip shape, black hard rubber grips with the H&R logo and a standard 2 1/2" octagonal barrel. Condition: standard nickel plating with over 90% remaining (missing in a few speckled areas and spots on the cylinder); mechanically fine, the correct original cylinder pin - with some plier marks - though it removes easily now. There is a faint set of initials etched into the butt, probably "JNS". The bore is dirty with slight pitting, it needs a good cleaning. This is an interesting and rare early Harrington & Richardson marked revolver.
Dick Littlefield has been a collector for over 59 years and an antique gun dealer for almost that long. He is co-author of the book Frank Wesson Gunmaker, a major contributor to Flayderman’s Guide and The Blue Book of Antique Gun Values. He has also written a number of articles for Man at Arms Magazine.
