REMINGTON NEW MODEL POLICE CARTRIDGE- CONVERTED REVOLVER
Description: This is a very nice condition Remington New Model Police Conversion Revolver. serial #561, 38 RF, 4 1/2" octagon barrel with a bright near excellent bore showing a hint of light frosting and strong rifling throughout. The barrel, cylinder and loading lever retain about 90% original bright blue showing scattered areas flaking to a pleasant gray-brown patina, light freckling and a turn ring along the cylinder. The frame retains perhaps 40% original bright blue with the balance flaked to gray-brown patina and silvering at the high edges. The triggerguard retains about 98% original nickel finish showing some light handling marks and the barrel address is crisp and clear. The trigger and a number of screw heads show lovely fire blue while the hammer shows strong slightly muting case-hardened colors throughout. The smooth walnut grips are pencil-numbered to the gun and remain in very good plus to near excellent condition retaining most of their original varnish and showing a patch of light dings along the bases, a few smaller scattered dings and the left panel not quite perfectly fitted at the top edge. The cylinder plate and cylinder are matching by assembly number, the barrel is stamped with conversion number "88" and there is no corresponding number on the cylinder plate. The remaining serialized parts are otherwise matching and the action seems to function well mechanically with solid timing and lock-up showing just a bit of play.
