VERY SCARCE Allen & Wheelock SIDEHAMMER Revolver
FIRST ISSUE 5-Panel Cylinder Scene and Walnut Grips!
Description: VERY SCARCE Allen & Wheelock SIDEHAMMER Revolver FIRST ISSUE 5-Panel Cylinder Scene and Walnut Grips! Here we present an antique Allen & Wheelock Sidehammer First Issue Revolver, made circa 1858 in Worcester, Massachusetts. This revolver would have competed well against Smith & Wesson and their Model No. 2 “Old Army” Revolver, also in .32. It might have even been preferable over the S&W with its sturdy solid frame, all while violating the S&W held Rollin White patent. There were 8 different variants of this revolver made between 1858 and 1865, and only 1,500 are thought to have been made total, making this a very scarce revolver. The most immediately eye-catching feature on this revolver is the side-mounted hammer on the right side of the gun. The features that make this distinctly a first issue are the rear cylinder axis pin and the lack of the later 1860 patent date. The cylinder scene bears a pastoral scene with birds, rabbits, deer, and dogs. The left side of the barrel is marked “ALLEN & WHEELOCK. WORCESTER. MASS./ALLEN’S PAT’S. SEPT. 7. NOV. 9. 1858.” The overall condition is Very Good. The action is as strong as ever. The bore is in good condition, dim with good rifling. The cylinder scene remains visible, depicting some wildlife and hunting dogs. The serial number on the barrel, cylinder, and cylinder arbor pin all match. A handsome revolver that would be a great addition to any collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .32 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1000 #190586 SOLD Antique: Yes |
