VERY RARE Antique MASSACHUSETTS ARMS Revolver MANUALLY REVOLVED Cylinder
ETCHED & ENGRAVED; 1 of Only 900 Manufactured
Description: VERY RARE Antique MASSACHUSETTS ARMS Revolver MANUALLY REVOLVED Cylinder ETCHED & ENGRAVED; 1 of Only 900 Manufactured Here we present an antique Manually Revolved Cylinder Massachusetts Arms Co. Maynard Primed Percussion Pocket Revolver, manufactured circa 1851-60 in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Arms Company of Chicopee, MA was one of the most important of the mid-19th century gunmaking companies to be established, not necessarily because of what the firm produced, but who the firm produced and supported. The company was established in 1850 to essentially serve as the firearms making arm of the famous Ames Manufacturing Company. Much like the single shot variety, these came equipped in .31 caliber and a Maynard Tape Primer. The barrels were marked “Mass. Arms Co/Chicopee Falls” and the primer door marked “Maynard’s Patent Sept. 22, 1845”. They came blued and case hardened with walnut grips. A total of about 2,500 tape primed pocket revolvers were produced between 1851 and 1860, while some 4,500 of the pocket sized Adams revolvers were produced between 1857 and 1861. Of the tape-primed revolvers, about 900 or so were of the earlier, manually rotated variant as is this example, with the balance being the more conventional automatically rotated version. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Bright, rifled bore. Engraved frame. Both grips are in good shape for their ages and contain an average amount of handling. Etched cylinder. Markings are sharp. With only 2,500 total produced, and only 900 in the manual cylinder rotation, this little revolver is very sought after and would be a great addition to your American Civil War collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 6 inches. Caliber: .31 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #233168 SOLD Antique: Yes |
