#4865 Smith & Wesson M-1881 Double Action, 6-1/2”x44SWR with very fine bright bore
Description: #4865 Smith & Wesson M-1881 Double Action, 6-1/2”x44SWR with very fine bright bore (about an 8 on a scale of 10) and fine tight action, 50XXX serial range (c,1889). This caliber can be easily loaded for by using modern 44S&W Special or 44S&W Magnum cases and trimming them down to the length of the 44SW Russian. The exterior retains about 50% factory nickel which has the remaining 50% flaking and peeling to greyish bare metal, 30% fading blue on the trigger guard and very faint traces of casehardening on the hammer. Fine hard rubber grips have no chips, slivers, or cracks. These were sturdy well-built guns and the “Outlaw Queen”, Belle Starr carried one as did the infamous and deadly Texas gunslinger, John Westley Hardin who also had a nickel S&W 1881 on him when he was gunned down in a Texas saloon in 1895. A very decent Model 1881 Double Action. About VG++/Fine as described. $1345 SOLD Antique: Yes |
