"Made circa 1875. 30 caliber with a 3.25"" barrel. This gun is in excellent condition with most of its original satin nickel finish. The grips are excellent with most of the original varnish. Accompanying this gun is period pocket holster that has protected it probably since day one. Th left hand side plate is beautifully engraved ""PRESENTED/ Lieut. Wm McK Watkins/ By His Brother/ George R Watkins/ July 1st 1875" Around the inscription is patriotic motifs. This gun was given to Lieutenant William McKendree Watkins who served in the 13th Regiment of the Maryland Volunteers during the Civil War. He died on November 28th of 1890 in Baltimore where he was also born.
