Description: 1906 STAG Gripped Colt SAA SIX SHOOTER in .41 LC
Scarce Caliber .41 Colt Revolver Made in 1906!
Here we present a Stag Gripped Colt Single Action Army Revolver in .41 Colt, manufactured in 1906 in Hartford, Connecticut. The Colt “Peacemaker” was introduced in 1873 and has become one of the most iconic firearms in all of history, thanks to its widespread use by the U.S. military, civilians and, more recently, in Western films. Total production numbers for the Colt Single Action Army reached 357,859. The production numbers for the .41 Colt reached only 19,676, making this model one of the scarcer models out there.
The Colt Single Action Army conjures images of cowboys, cavalry, lawmen, and bad men. This one was made when Elmer Keith (1899-1984) was just a young boy. Keith would go on to become a famous hunter and gun writer, hot-rodding just this sort of revolver to develop new loads and cartridges, and even blowing them up in the process. This is still well within the era of the cowboy and getting into that of the gangster. An interesting and tumultuous time in American history!
The overall condition is fine. The blue finish has been restored with care for the markings and 98% remains. The markings are clear. The numbers match. The stag grips are in fabulous shape. The bore is bright with strong rifling. The action is excellent with rock-solid lockup. Here is one that has the looks with those handsome and very functional stag grips, still ready for range.
