Antique “J.J. Hermam D Brevette” Ring Trigger Percussion PEPPERBOX Revolver BELLY GUN
Similar to the BLUNT & SYMS Style PEPPERBOX
Description: Antique “J.J. Hermam D Brevette” Ring Trigger Percussion PEPPERBOX Revolver BELLY GUN Similar to the BLUNT & SYMS Style PEPPERBOX Here we present an antique Belgian Ring Trigger 4-shot Percussion Pepperbox Pistol. This firearm was made circa the 1850s in Liege, Belgium, known for centuries now as one of the foremost firearms capitals of the world. It was expressly made for self-defense, giving the shooter 4 shots of 8.6mm caliber without having to cock a hammer. While simplifying shooting with no manual cocking of the hammer, this pepperbox did preclude the inclusion of usable sights. However, this early example of a double-action pistol must have been quite a selling point. As these were considered “point and shoot” short range defensive weapons or “belly guns”, the market did not seem to object to the limitation of not having sights. Pepperbox revolvers were so named because of the similarity of the front view of the weapon was very much the look of a Pepper Pot of the time being a circle of round holes. This is a nice example of a percussion Pepper box revolver. The removable barrels are made of high quality Damascus Steel. The body and back strap of the revolver are fully engraved. The ring trigger rotates the barrels to the next chamber in a double action motion. This revolver very closely resembles the U.S. maker Blunt & Syms in style, but this revolver was made in Liège, Belgium. The barrels can be "turned off" with a key that fits into the end of the barrels for quick loading. These types of pistols enjoyed even greater popularity than Sam Colt’s first pistol. The history that these pistols enjoyed over the years is astounding: the Seminole Wars, Gold Rush, Mexican War and American Civil War. These guns are true relics of American history. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Good bores. Both grips contain less than average handling wear. Nicely engraved frame. Liege proofed. Markings are legible. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 2-1/2 inches. Caliber: 8.6mm Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
