Antique “SHREVE & WOLF” Liege Proofed Self-Defense DOUBLE ACTION Revolver
Circa 1880s Belgian Made Revolver w/Lanyard Ring
Description: Antique “SHREVE & WOLF” Liege Proofed Self-Defense DOUBLE ACTION Revolver Circa 1880s Belgian Made Revolver w/Lanyard Ring Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Shreve & Wolf Liege Proofed Double Action Revolver, manufactured in Liege, Belgium circa the late 1880s to the early 1890s. In the years following the American Civil War all the way through the turn of the century saw the rise of a host of companies that produced inexpensive metallic cartridge handguns. Many of these were produced not only in the States, but overseas in Europe as well. Product lines ran from copies of firearms by established American manufacturers. This would have been a great revolver to carry in the years coming up to the turn of the century! This little self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy cities of Liege, London, or Paris during the tumultuous times of the late-1800s. These types of pistols are small, light and simple. The “Pocket Pistol” name says it all. They were the “Saturday Night Specials” of the 16th-19th century. Much like the Deringer, they were "Gentleman's" or "Muff Pistols", typically, a smaller pistol that was easily concealed. They were favored among the gentry and women because of these traits. Men would carry them concealed in a waistcoat pocket and women would hide them in a hand muff. The overall condition is good. This example has been refinished in nickel. The action fully functions but the cylinder does not lock up causing timing issues. The bore retains some shimmer, is mostly frosted, and maintains serviceable rifling. The grips are good with the left having been repaired. Markings are legible. Belgian proofed cylinder. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-1/2 inches. Caliber: .41 Centerfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
