Description: C. S. Shattuck Pocket Revolver, .32 Rim Fire, RARE Side-Swing Cylinder
Very little is known about the C. S. Shattuck Firearms Company of Hatfield Ma. Apparently a Major Charles S. Shattuck, togethter with one Andrew Hyde, started making small, inexpensive pocket revolvers in Springfield, MA as early as 1874. The firm moved their operation to Hatfield shortly thereafter in 1877, and with another investor, one Mrs. Mary D. Porter continued business for a year before Porter withdrew her support. Shattuck would continue until about 1910, making a variety of small pistols and shotguns.
This is one of the rare, side-swing pocket revolvers Shattuck is best known for. It was a novel design at the time, and undoubtedly gave the likes of S&W and Colt the idea for a side-opening cylinder, although their designs would not come to market for another 25 years. The gun is in excellent condition, with 95% or more of the original nickel plating intact. The action is accurate, the cylinder indexes and locks properly, and the bore is fine, with good rifling and very minor spots. The black hard rubber grips are in excellent condition, showing minimal wear. The grips feature the images of two assassinated US presidents, Garfield and Lincoln. Matching serial numbers on the frame and cylinder pin, SN 1499, rated excellent overall. Buyer pays $20.00 shipping to the lower 48 states. I accept USPS Money Orders or Bank Cashier's Check. Will accept Personal check, with shipping hold. 3% Credit Card Fee! Three day non-firing, non-disassembly inspection period. If returned, for any reason, full refund less shipping. Layaway Available! One third down, balance on or before end of 90 days. Other reasonable layaway options considered. ANTIQUE
