Excellent Ejector Variant Lowell Arms Co. S&W Marked 22 Pocket Revolver Antique
Description: Serial #33, .22 RF, 3.125 inch octagonal barrel with a very fine bore with strong rifling and several small patches of roughness toward the muzzle end. This is the Lowell Arms Company pocket revolver late model with the loading gate and side mounted ejector variant manufactured sometime just after the Civil War by the former Rollin White Arms Company under contract and agreement for Smith and Wesson. It is marked "Made for Smith & Wesson by Lowell Arms Co. Lowell Mass" on the top of the barrel. This example does not have the "PAT. APRIL 2, 1867" markings commonly found on this variant. In excellent plus condition it retains virtually all, 94-96% of the original silver plate on the frame with slight wear around the loading gate having a beautiful overall unpolished patina. The barrel and cylinder retain about 80-85% of the original bright blue with excellent markings on both showing a thin drag line with most loss from flaking on the barrel. The rose wood grips are both numbered to the gun having virtually all of the original finish and no chips with the left panel having a repaired crack that runs with the grain through the entire length. Mechanically the gun is sound holding at half and full cock with proper cylinder advancement, tight lock up and a crisp trigger pull. This is an especially outstanding example of a rare S&W marked Lowell made revolver. Antique SOLD |
