Rare mint condition panel scene factory engraved & cased Smith & Wesson Revolver. Engraved by Otto Bodenstein. His engraving for Colt is short lived, only noted for short period where his very distinct ”Merwin & Hulbert” style rope and tiny punch dots. Very few S&W are noted of Bodenstein engravings. Makes this revolver a rare and special one. When Bodenstein engraved exclusively for Hopkins & Allen who manufactured the Merwin revolvers, often a colored enamel was added to engraving for a unique finish. Mother of Pearl grips and .38 caliber. Displays very nice. Absolute mint condition Panel scence S&W cased engraved revolver made in 1880. 38 caliber. Pearl grips excellent condition.
