Description: Moore’s Patent Firearms Co. Front loading Revolver. Front Loading .32 cal Teat-fire single action spur trigger revolver. Made 1864-1870. SN: 17815 3 ¼” barrel six shot, brass frame with silver plate finish. Barrel and cylinder blued. Walnut grips Birds head butt Barrel markings : MOORE’S PAT.FIREARMS CO. BROOKLYN,N.Y. Cylinder marked: D. WILLIAMSON’S PATENT/JAN.5.1864 Daniel Moore and David Williamson designed the special teat-fire cartridge to circumvent the Rollin White patents. Moore was a serious competitor to Smith & Wesson and because of their strong sales record the company was Purchased by Colt in 1870 A very nice example of a post civil war early cartridge pistol Condition: 3 ¼” nice mostly bright finish with strong lands and grooves. Just a tiny bit of oxidation and fouling. Blued metal finish on the barrel and cylinder has faded and turned to an attractive antique looking gun-metal grey. All serial numbers are matching and barrel markings and engravings are clear and legible. The revolver is factory embellished with a nice flowing foliate scrollwork and punch dot shading. The frame still retains generous amount of the original silver plate throughout and thinning to a mild ocher brass beneath. Original walnut grips are in good condition the original varnish thinning in spots, usual wear and tear for a revolver of this age. Both grips are numbered to the gun. Mechanically the revolver cycles well with good indexing and firm cylinder lock-up As a collector's piece, Moore’s Patent Firearms Co.
