RARE German 9mm PINFIRE Revolver P.D. LUNESCHLOSS “P.D.L.” Engraved c1870s
Mid-to-Late-19th Prussian Lefaucheux Type Sidearm
Description: RARE German 9mm PINFIRE Revolver P.D. LUNESCHLOSS “P.D.L.” Engraved c1870s Mid-to-Late-19th Prussian Lefaucheux Type Sidearm Here we present an antique Lefaucheux Type German Double Action Pinfire Revolver by P.D. Luneschloss, made in Solingen circa the 1860s-1881. The pinfire was one of the first self-contained firearms cartridges. This very early design included a case with ball, powder and primer, but what made it different from what was to come later in cartridge development was the “firing pin” that projected out of the side of the case. It was this pin that was struck and detonated the primer inside. The inventor was Eugene Lefaucheux, a Frenchman, and these revolvers were prolific in both France and Belgium, though other countries made them in lesser numbers. P.D. Lüneschloss—most famous for his blades—made firearms and swords alike, even throughout the American Civil War. Several bladesmiths in Solingen also tried their hand with making firearms during the period of the 1860s through the beginning of the 1880s. This example is marked with his signature “P.D.L” stamp on the right barrel flat. During this time the city of Solingen even had its own proof house, the mark of which can be observed on both the barrel and cylinder of this revolver: the eagle over the “S.P.” for Solinger Probiranstalt. This one is also lightly engraved, indicating that it was probably intended for the commercial rather than the military market. The overall condition is good. The action functions in double action only. Good bore for age. Firm grips with an expected amount of handling wear (left grip has a small stable crack near the frame). Lightly engraved frame. German marked barrel and cylinder. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 6-1/4 inches. Caliber: 9mm Pinfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1350 #217712 SOLD Antique: Yes |
