Scarce LeMat Cartridge Revolver, ANTIQUE, Serial Number 31, RARE!
The last and most technically advanced versions of the LeMat revolver were made in Belgium and France with production extending to the early 1880s. Several variations have appeared over the past several years, most in the white, a few blued. This example has the usual octagon barrel and a distinctive lever to interchange revolver and shotgun function. The gun has a high blade front sight, drift adjustable, groove in the frame above the hammer for a rear sight, central hammer selector switch, loading gates for each barrel, and smooth European walnut grips, secured with a transverse screw through a pair of escutcheons. The top of the barrel is marked with a full LeMat legend suffixed by ‘Paris’, consistent with its manufacture in France. The serial number is on the right side of the frame.
Super rare late cartridge LeMat with octagonal barrel, nicely marked, in the white with walnut stocks.
VG+ as lightly polished. Original grips in comparable condition. Barrels are bright with light etching as typical for this era of firearm. Perfect manual mechanics. A wonderful and unique LeMat revolver well suited for the most advanced collection.
