Military Used Civil War 2nd Type Second Model Whitney Navy Revolver Inscribed, "Ordinance Sgt. 12th C.V."
Description: An Early, Scarce, And Very Desirable Military Used Civil War Whitney 2nd Type Second Model Navy Revolver Inscribed On The Backstrap In Fine Script, "Ordinance Sergt. 12th C.V,." In Nice Untouched Condition. Early serial #2815, with all matching numbers. These were made from the late 1850's to the early 1860's. The scarce pistol has nice metal, markings & edges throughout. It has a good cylinder scene and "E. WHITNEY/N. HAVEN"" markings on top of the barrel.. All of the metal on it has a very untouched natural darkening even patina throughout. There is some darkening case colors showing in areas. The original wood grips are very good throughout showing some light wear. The revolver has a very tight and crisp action on in it. The bore is also very good in the gun. The scarce identified revolver is very even and nice in condition throughout. The Early Whitney Revolver has fine history throughout the war. The Ordinance Sergeant's name of the 12th CT. Infantry was removed from the backstrap very early on probably during or right after the war. It may have been lost, captured, or sold by the original Sergeant who owned it. The 12TH CT. Infantry had very fine history and was active from Nov. 19, 1861 - August 12, 1865. Some of the more important battles that they were in were: Battle of Pattersonville, The Bayou Teche Campaign, Battle of Fort Bisland, Battle of Irish Bend, Siege of Port Hudson, Battle of Brashear City, Shenandoah Valley Campaign, Battle Of Fort Stevens, & The Third Battle of Winchester. They were also in many other conflicts besides the battles stated above. This Is A Nice & Untouched Looking Early, And Very Desirable Military Used Civil War Whitney 2nd Type Second Model Navy Revolver Inscribed On The Backstrap In Fine Script, "Ordinance Sergt. 12th C.V,."
