Description: An Early U.S. Military Civil War Colt Percussion Model 1851 Navy Revolver Identified By Serial Number Being Issued To The 6th Kansas Cavalry And Private Jesse L. Vance In Very Nice Untouched Condition. Serial # 121,593, all matching numbers including the wedge. Made in very early 1862. All original and complete. The revolver has very nice metal, markings, and edges. The cylinder scene is light and visible in areas. All of the metal on the gun has an even chocolate brown natural patina throughout it. All screws are also nice. The brass backstrap and trigger guard both have a fine mellow color to them with no nicks or dents in them. The original grips are full and have a very good look to them. It has a very good action and bore. Jessie Vance was actually one of three brothers that were in the 6th Kansas Cavalry. He mustered into Co. G. on 11/25/1861 and mustered out on 5/19/1865 at Devall's Bluff, Az. He and his two brothers were in the whole time together. They had very interesting history as they were in and out of trouble during their entire enlistment. There is a large amount of history that come with the revolver in a large loose leaf binder, The 6th Kansa Cavalry had very good history in the civil war . They were in 66 battles and had the highest number of soldiers killed in any Kansas Cavalry Unit. They lost 4 officers, and 81 inlisted men. Some of their major battles were Coon Creek, MO, Cane Hill, AR, Prarie Grove, Roseville, Poison Spring, Daranelle, Mazzard's Prarie AR, and Cow creek, MO.
