Circa 1868 Antique MANHATTAN Percussion Revolver
Description: Circa 1868 Antique MANHATTAN Percussion Revolver Post-Civil War 6-Shot Revolver Here we present an antique Civil War Manhattan Series V .36 Caliber Revolver, manufactured sometime between June 1867 to December 1868 in Newark, New Jersey. Only 9,000 were produced. Manhattan was a direct competitor to Colt and even somewhat resembles the Colt 1851 Navy and 1849 Pocket. These are considered “secondary martial weapons” by collectors due to the fact that some were purchased by the U.S. Ordnance Department and even more were purchased privately by officers and enlisted men to use for side arms. This revolver features six shots of .36 caliber ball and a 6-1/2 inch barrel, the latter being scarce as most were made with 4 inch barrels. This Manhattan Navy Caliber Revolver features a roll-engraved cylinder with strong borders. The top of the barrel is marked “MANHATTAN FIREARMS CO. NEWARK, N.J./PATENTED MARCH 8, 1864”. This one features the spring plate between the recoil shield and cylinder. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are covered in a smooth, gray-brown patina. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The walnut grips are in great shape. The bore is good with strong rifling and a light layer of dust. The action on this revolver is excellent. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 6-1/2 inches. Caliber: .36 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #7029 SOLD Antique: Yes |
