COLT MODEL 1851- NAVY/ARMY- U.S. REVOLVER
Description: This is a Colt Model 1851 NAVY/ARMY, made in 1856 under contract to the US Army. It is Serial number#62941 and all parts, cylinder,wedge,arbor, barrel, frame ,triggerguard and grips match! Has the right grip, "flat oval", cartouche of , "RHKW" that stands for inspector, Capt. Robert Henry Kirkwood Whitley,Inspector, 1838-1875. The left grip has a cartouche in a flat oval with the initials "ADK" and stands for "A.D. KING" Army sub inspector . 1850-1865. There are also other inspection numbers and letters stamped on various parts, such as. "B","M", "L", "1", "2" and "3". has approx. 50%+ of cylinder scene remaining. Metal is all a Grey/Blue patina with traces of original bluing on underside of barrel., actually looks pretty good for being 163 years old! Smooth Walnut grips are very nice and show a little shrinkage from age. Has 7.5" octagon barrel with strong rifling showing some pitting. . 36 caliber 6 shot percussion. Brass is all a pleasing yellow "Mustard" toning. Action is strong and indexes properly and locks up tight. Markings on barrel are, "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-". The cylinder is marked "62941" . The patent information on cylinder is very light and hard to read. . " Buyer pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states.
