Excellent Deane, Adams & Deane Self-Cocking Revolver Cased with Accessories
Description:
Serial #10219R, 54 Bore (.455 Caliber), 6 1/4" octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some very mild freckling within the grooves.
This is a handsome revolver that has the original matching numbered cylinder, and retains 90-92% of the original bright blue finish, with thin silvering along the high edges and projections, as well as some very small spots of flaking, mainly centered on the short rear grip tang.
The cylinder has a mostly dull pewter gray patina, with muted original color case-hardening still visible throughout.
Traces of bright nitre blue remain on the hammer, while about 40-50% remains on the cylinder pin retainer.
All markings are still crisp and clear, including the "DEANE, ADAMS & DEANE, 30 KING WILLIAM STt. LONDON BRIDGE" along the topstrap and barrel breech.
The finely checkered walnut grip has only a few very minor handling marks, with some mild flattening of the points on either side.
The action lock-up is tight and the action functions smartly.
The revolver is housed in a period oaken traveling case with relined and labeled green baize interior, containing: an original Dixon patent-top pistol flask; ebony-handled turn-screw and nipple wrench; double-cavity mold with sprue-cutter; 54 Bore wad cutter; wooden cleaning rod; a pewter oil bottle; and a wash-leather percussion cap bag with both Deane, Adams & Deane, and Eley paper labels (the bag contains no caps).
This is a great looking revolver, in excellent original condition, with a terrific assortment of original accessories.
It would make a splendid addition to any collection.
