Offered here and just acquired is this fine Charter Arms Undercover revolver in DESIRABLE .32 Magnum caliber. Charter Arms was founded in 1964 by Douglas McClenahan (a former Colt/Ruger designer) in Statford, Connecticut – just a few miles away from our retail shop and gallery in Southport, CT. He wished to build rugged, simple, reliable revolvers. Their first product was the Undercover, introduced around 1965 as a lightweight, affordable self-defense snubnose revolver. McClenahan’s one-piece cast frame with fewer moving parts was innovative and allowed relatively strong firearms with simple manufacturing.
Over the years the company went through several ownership and financial cycles. This one is a first generation manufacture in the 1960s – 1990s.
The brand has a cult following: Many shooters like the simple, robust design. This serial Number: ~953,728 — has the earliest Stratford markings.
The classic snubnose caliber since the early 20th century, this has a 1-3/4”. Standard production Undercover models typically hold 5 rounds.
The .32 H&R Magnum is a more recent cartridge (introduced in 1984) that pushes lighter bullets at higher velocity compared to older .32s. We seldom see this caliber although we are situated just a few miles away from its factory and we have acquired hundreds of examples.
The gun appears to have seen very little use(only a slight cylinder turn mark and some telltale oil marks when we wipped it down. We would consider it 99%++ condition. Excellent grips and mint bore. GREAT CARRY GUN or COLLECTIBLE>

Collectible Charter Arms .32 Magnum Undercover Revolver
Offered here and just acquired is this fine Charter Arms Undercover revolver in DESIRABLE .32 Magnum caliber. Charter Arms was founded in 1964 by Douglas McClenahan (a former Colt/Ruger designer) in Statford, Connecticut – just a few miles away from our retail shop and gallery in Southport, CT. He wished to build rugged, simple, reliable revolvers. Their first product was the Undercover, introduced around 1965 as a lightweight, affordable self-defense snubnose revolver. McClenahan’s one-piece cast frame with fewer moving parts was innovative and allowed relatively strong firearms with simple manufacturing.
Over the years the company went through several ownership and financial cycles. This one is a first generation manufacture in the 1960s – 1990s.
The brand has a cult following: Many shooters like the simple, robust design. This serial Number: ~953,728 — has the earliest Stratford markings.
The classic snubnose caliber since the early 20th century, this has a 1-3/4”. Standard production Undercover models typically hold 5 rounds.
The .32 H&R Magnum is a more recent cartridge (introduced in 1984) that pushes lighter bullets at higher velocity compared to older .32s. We seldom see this caliber although we are situated just a few miles away from its factory and we have acquired hundreds of examples.
The gun appears to have seen very little use(only a slight cylinder turn mark and some telltale oil marks when we wipped it down. We would consider it 99%++ condition. Excellent grips and mint bore. GREAT CARRY GUN or COLLECTIBLE>
