The Cimarron Model P is a fairly accurate reproduction of the Colt Single Action Army (SAA) revolver, also known as the Peacemaker. The Old Model version of the Model P is based on the SAA as it was produced by Colt between 1873 and 1896. As such, the base pin is retained in the frame by a screw rather than the more commonly known cross pin and spring. This previously owned example is the blued, 4-3/4” barrel version chambered for the legendary .45 Colt, the cartridge most associated with the Peacemaker having been chambered for that round more often than the others. In total, between the standard, Bisley, and Flat-Top Target versions of the First Generation (1873-1940), up to 158,884 were chambered for the .45 Colt compared to 71,392 for the .44-40 Winchester round. One simple reason for the .45 Colt's popularity back in the Old West was its stopping power. It was well suited as a self-defense round.
