Serial No. 1117, circa 1862-1863, .54 caliber, 5.5"" octagonal barrel. Metal is a grey patina with light oxidation visible. Edges are bright, bore has pitting and frosting noted in the grooves. Rifling remains strong. Right side is marked ""KERR PATENT 1117"" Lock is stamped ""London Armoury"", grip checkering is worn but still has sharpness, left side is carved ""JAOr/31MISS/Reg"". Faint JS Anchor is noted just below the trigger guard. Col. Jehu Amaziah Orr joined the Confederate Army September 24th 1862 and fought in major battles before being severely wounded at the battle of Franklin. Before being a Col. Orr was a politician and would serve in the Provisional Confederate Congress and the Second Confederate Congress. Action does function correctly
