The Union contracted for 5,000 Rogers & Spencer percussion revolvers in late 1864. They were delivered too late for use in the Civil War. The 7.5"" octagon 44 caliber barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The top strap is marked ROGERS & SPENCER (double strike) over UTICA N.Y. The revolver retains approx. 95% of its original bright blue with a couple areas of light spotting and a cylinder drag line. The hammer and loading lever have visible case colors. The frame, barrel, and cylinder are sub-inspected. The grips are fine with a strong cartouche and light edge wear on the bottom. The action functions correctly. This very fine Rogers & Spencer revolver is ready for your collection!
