Description: 1862 CIVIL WAR Antique COLT 1849 POCKET Revolver “USN” Marked, Made in 1862! Here we present an antique Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver, made during the American Civil War in 1862 in Hartford, Connecticut. Over 280,000 of these were produced by Colt’s factory at Hartford by the end of the American Civil War in 1865 and 325,000 total made by the end of production. These were very popular and saw a lot of use on the battlefield, on the home front and in the West. These were some of the smallest, handiest pocket revolvers of the time. This one has been marked on the top of the backstrap “USN”. There are no official contracts from the Navy for the Colt 1849 Pocket but it is interesting nonetheless. The overall condition is good. The iron parts have a gray patina. There is some of the original silver finish on the brass trigger guard. The markings are mostly legible. The walnut grip shows use and remains solid. The bore is in good shape with good rifling. The action is strong. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5 inches.
