1863 mfr. CIVIL WAR Antique US NAVY COLT Model 1851 .36 Percussion Revolver With Inscription to Sailor
Description: 1863 mfr. CIVIL WAR Antique US NAVY COLT Model 1851 .36 Percussion Revolver With Inscription to Sailor Here we present an antique U.S. Navy Contract Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver, made in the middle of the American Civil War in 1863 in Hartford, Connecticut. The 1851 Navy was one of Colt’s most famous and successful lines, reaching a production total of 257,348 from 1850 to 1873 (right up to the time of SAA production) from both Hartford and London factories. From Hartford alone, 185,000 were made by the end of the American Civil War. Many of these saw service during the conflict on both sides. There were some military purchases and lots of private purchases by soldiers going off to war. This is one of the “Navy” Navies—those acquired by the US (Union) government for wartime use during the American Civil War. An anchor and “U.S.N.” are on the butt, with “U.S.” stamped under the “COLT’S PATENT” marking on the side. In addition, this one has an inscription neatly engraved in thin script on the back of the brass grip frame which reads “2Nd. Asst. Eng. J.J. Sullivan U.S.N. N___ & W___”. The overall condition is good. This one wears an old refinish that has turned plum. The action is strong. The bore is dim with worn rifling. The grip is solid. Numbers match. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-1/2 inches. Caliber: .36 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3500 #244376 SOLD Antique: Yes |
