A Desirable Early Civil War Percussion Colt Model 1855 #5A Root Revolver With A Long 4 1/2 Inch Barrel
Description: A Desirable Early Civil War Percussion Colt Model 1855 #5A Root Revolver With A Long Barrel In Fine Untouched Condition. Serial #4,912, All matching numbers, all original and complete. Made in 1862 and in .31 caliber. It has the fluted cylinder and the longer 4 1/2 inch barrel on it. The revolver has fine metal, markings, and edges. it has all of its proof marks on it. The barrel, frame, cylinder, and backstrap all retain a mix of fine factory blue finish which is fading a plum blue, brown patina in areas. The loading lever and hammer both retain some of their original case colors. All screws are fine on the pistol. The original grips are excellent and full throughout. They retain all of their original factory varnish on them. The revolver has a fine bore and action. These root revolvers were often carried by officers and soldiers during the war.
