CIVIL WAR Antique ALLEN & WHEELOCK Sidehammer POCKET Percussion Revolver
SCARCE; 1 of only 750 Made with Great Cylinder Scene!
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique ALLEN & WHEELOCK Sidehammer POCKET Percussion Revolver SCARCE; 1 of only 750 Made with Great Cylinder Scene! Here we present a scarce engraved antique Allen & Wheelock Sidehammer Pocket Percussion Revolver, made circa 1858-1861, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Allen & Wheelock produced a series of pistols based upon this action that were all essentially the same except for their overall size and caliber. The largest was the .36 caliber, six shot “Side Hammer Navy” revolver, the middle-sized gun was the .31 caliber “Side Hammer Belt” revolver and smallest was the .28 caliber “Side Hammer Pocket” revolver, as this one is. Both of the smaller guns had five shot cylinders. This .28 caliber pocket revolver was the smallest-sized pistol of the series and was manufactured with barrels mostly in the 3-inch range. All of the pistols in the series featured engraved cylinders that were embellished with scenes of game like deer and rabbits, combined with a forest motif. This one also features the trigger guard loading lever, which is a nice feature that doesn’t require a single-purpose lever under the barrel. These pistols were produced from about 1858 through 1861 and it is estimated that roughly 750 of these “pocket sized” revolvers were produced. This revolver represents a very rare Civil War handgun. The overall condition is very good. Strong action. Bright bore with deep grooves. Fantastic cylinder scene. Both grips are in good shape with less than average handling wear. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3 inches. Caliber: .28 percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #217800 SOLD Antique: Yes |
