CIVIL WAR Antique MOORE’S Patent Belt Revolver
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique MOORE’S Patent Belt Revolver Scarce & Engraved Civil War Revolver Here we present an antique Engraved Moore’s Patent Firearms Co. Single Action Belt Revolver. These revolvers were made in Brooklyn, New York from 1861-1863 and number less than 8,000 in total. It is a very interesting revolver as this it is one of those revolvers that was direct violation of the patent by Rollin White and Smith & Wesson. Rollin White, charged with defending his own patent, took Moore’s Patent Firearms Co. to court and won, resulting in a very few of the later revolvers being stamped “MF’D FOR SMITH & WESSON”. The other significance of this pistol is that many of these are known to have been purchased by Union officers and enlisted men for use during the American Civil War. One of its advantages was its 7-shot capacity. It is unique in that the whole cylinder and barrel assembly cant to the right side for loading and unloading, a prelude to the swing-out cylinder! Mechanically, this revolver utilizes a push-button release that allows the barrel and cylinder shift to the right for loading and unloading. The cylinder is chambered for 7 shots of .32 rimfire and is fully bored through, violating the Smith & Wesson owned Rollin White Patent. The pistol also features full engraving on the brass frame from the factory. The overall condition is fair to good. The original silver plate is about 15% on the brass frame, with a nice patina on the brass and iron parts of the barrel and cylinder. The engravings are clear. The markings are clear and legible. The bore is clean with strong rifling. The walnut grips are good. The screws attaching the top of the grip frame to the frame of the revolver are absent. The bottom screw is present. The action on this revolver is functional. Here is a handsome revolver from the period of the Civil War with additional history with Smith & Wesson! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .32 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $800 #6410 SOLD Antique: Yes |
