CIVIL WAR William UHLINGER .32 Rim POCKET Revolver
Rare Patent Infringement Pistol of the Civil War
Description: CIVIL WAR William UHLINGER .32 Rim POCKET Revolver Rare Patent Infringement Pistol of the Civil War Here we present a William Uhlinger .32 Rimfire Revolver, made in 1861-1865 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is a very rare patent infringement pistol, made during the American Civil War by William Uhlinger. It is estimated that about half of all of his pistols were left unmarked except for a serial number (as you see with this one). The other half used other names or aliases to avoid being tracked by Smith & Wesson, against whose patent Uhlinger had infringed. Altogether, he made about 10,000 pistols from 1861-1865. Some were in .22 rimfire long, .22 rimfire short and .32 rimfire. All of these pistols were made in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in what used to be the William Hankins’ (of Sharps and Hankins) manufactory. Uhlingher knew full well that he was infringing the Rollin White Patent owned by Smith & Wesson (the idea of a bored through cylinder that enabled the use of straight-walled rimfire ammunition). This piece is chambered in .32 rimfire and has a 5-7/8 inch barrel. The overall condition is very good. 95% of the blue finish remains. Clear markings. The numbers match. The loading gate is absent. The rosewood grips are in fine shape. The bore is in good condition with visible rifling. The action remains strong, however, the cylinder does not lock up. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5-7/8 inches. Caliber: .32 rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #190749 SOLD Antique: Yes |
