Early Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver Mfd in 1853
Very Fine Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver that was made in 1853. Standard 4" Octagon Barrel, .31 Caliber, 5 shot cylinder with walnut grips and silver plated gripstraps. This one has 100% all matching numbers right down to the inked number inside the walnut grips. Nice action with a beautiful bore.
The gripstraps still retain 99% original silver plating, grips are nearly flawless with 98% original varnish and just a few hints of wear at the bottom edges of the profiles. Screws still have most of the original fire blue...thinning to silver on the more exposed screws. The hammer, frame, and loading lever still have most of their original faded cases which were more grey in appearance on 1850's era Colts than the more vibrant colors found in the 1860's. The cylinder still shows about 35% original blue with a great roll engraved stagecoach robbery scene. Back of the cylinder still has the safety pins on the lugs between the chambers. The barrel has a sharp Colt Address and looks like it has about 80% of its original blue but my personal feeling after much contemplation is that its a very old period reblue on this one component. Perhaps the original barrel blue flaked as charcoal blue had a tendency to do and it either went back to Colt or a dealer corrected it. What I can tell you is that the gun itself shows very little in the way of use especially for an 1850's era 1849 Pocket. Nice example with a great look to it. Comes with a custom-made leather holster which is modern. Antique, No FFL Required. No sales to NJ, DC, NYC, or Chicago. No International Sales. 20.00 Shipping in the lower US 48.
