EXCEPTIONAL Starr Arms Double Action 44 Cal Civil War Revolver
Description: Starr Arms Double Action 44 caliber percussion revolver, 6-shot cylinder, 6" round barrel, with maker mark on left side of frame and patent info on right side of frame, serial number 11763 matches on frame, cylinder, hammer, inside of walnut grips, inside of front grip strap, etc. This falls in a range of revolvers that were issued to either the 14th Pennsylvania or 19th Pennsylvania Cavalry - has U. S. Government full inspector and sub-inspector markings, super crisp cartouches, and a fully functioning action. Many of these did not work properly to the dismay of the Union troops. Most likely this one sat in an arsenal and then got snatched up by Bannerman's Surplus after the Civil War as it remains in exceptional original condition - cylinder and right side of frame are 98% blue, left side of frame is 85% blue with the balance flaking to plum, barrel is 95% blue with light muzzle wear and a few nick/scratch losses, bore is stone mint, chambers of the cylinders even have almost all of the blue in them so this one was shot very little. Walnut grips are almost perfect, never sanded or refinished, never cleaned, just a couple of very light, minor scratches, clear "JWK" cartouche on left side and clear "CSL" cartouche on right side. Loading lever was originally case hardened, now mostly a grayish-silver with some bright case colors showing back near the frame. Even some of the screws retain their original bright fire blue. Original front sight is present. Hammer reatins 20% original case colors. Due to the high condition, the pictures show a lot of reflection and this one looks way better "in hand" than the pics will show. TERMS: No international sales. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Free shipping by USPS Priority Mail with tracking. Payment by bank check, money order or personal check. All major credit cards accepted with 4% convenience fee added. Sold as a collectible only; a competent gunsmith should check it over before firing it.
