High Condition Rogers & Spencer Army Revolver, .44 Percussion, Utica, NY
Description: Consignment item, one of many from a large collection of 1850s and 1860s percussion firearms. Please see my other listings for more items. Rogers and Spencer of Utica, NY produced 5,000 Army revolvers (.44 percussion caliber) right near the end of the Civil War. Blued and case hardened finish, 7 1/2" octagon barrel, 6-shot cylinder, walnut grips, Remington NMA-style frame with Whitney-style loading lever. Some very early ones were issued in March, 1865. This revolver bears serial number 1194 and likely, based on its condition, just sat in an armory, then going to Bannerman when he purchased Army inventory after the Civil War. The frame and barrel retain 92% bright original blue, the case colors on the loading rod have patinated with some remaining in the protected areas, the cylinder retains all the original nipples and has turned patina, the action is strong and crisp, the bore is extremely sharp/bright/shiny, and all the serialized parts have matching numbers (frame, grip strap, barrel, loading rod, cylinder, and grips). Multiple components have sharp sub-inspector marks, and the left grip has a very crisp "RPB" cartouche. Right grip has some loss on the bottom edge. Beautiful revolver to add to your collection. TERMS: No international sales and no sales to Alaska or Hawaii. Sales to California and New York will only be shipped to an FFL dealer. All others require a valid driver's license or other proof of adult age and will ship directly to your residence or workplace. Buyer pays $35 for shipping and tracking by USPS Priority Mail. All major credit cards are accepted but incur a 4% convenience surcharge; payment by personal check, bank check or USPS money order. 3-day, non-firing inspection with buyer responsible for return shipping.
