Manhattan Arms .36 Navy IV 6-1/2” Barrel - Serial #57553 - ALL NUMBERS MATCH.
Description: For sale is this extremely nice Manhattan Arms Navy Series IV .36 cal. Revolver with 6-1/2" Barrel. Serial number is 57553 making it a Civil War issue in late 1864. ALL and I mean ALL OF THE NUMBERS MATCH. see pics. This revolver in almost identical to the Colt 1849 Pocket Pistol. It was produced when Colts Patent was about to expire on the 1849 model. Very unusual to find one with ALL the numbers matching. Even the wedge. The only problem with the Revolver is the cylinder does not advance when the hammer is cocked to either the first or second position. My gunsmith seems to think it could be a simple fix and the possibly a piece of the brass nipple may have broken off and fell into the mechanism. Other then that is is in extremely nice, collectable with most of the engraving on the cylinder still there. Grips are nice walnut. Toward the end of the run of the series IV the die stamp for the two line address experienced a break or metal fill in in the date in the second line. I have researched this and found the same Revolver with a serial number 9 numbers lower then this one which was ed off in 2016 and was issued to a union Calvary unit had the same die break or metal fill in. Holster is for a Colt 1849 Pocket Pistol. Fits Revolver perfectly. SOLD Antique: Yes Handgun Caliber: .36 Manufacturer: Manhattan Arms Model: Navy IV Serial Number: 57553 Barrel Length: 6-1/2 Condition: Excellent Metal Condition: Average for age Wood Condition: Above average Barrel Type: Hexagon Action: Single Manufacture Date: 1864-1867 Engraving: Cylinder |
