RARE BATTLEFIELD WHITNEY NAVY REVOLVER
Description: ~BLACK FRIDAY SUPER SALE $2280 !!! The most famous and easily recognized revolver manufactured by Eli Whitney, Jr . was his Navy Model This revolver came on the scene just prior to the War Between the States. Whitney Navy single action percussion revolver. Made early 1860s. Top of the barrel is marked "E.WHITNEY/N.HAVEN". Serial numbered marked on the bottom of the barrel. Octagon barrel with pin front sight and v-notch cut out rear. Original finish having formed a nice brown patina. Brass trigger guard. Walnut grips are numbered to the gun. Whitney obtained a contract with the US Army in 1862, and provided about 7,602 revolvers through 1863. The Army also obtained Whitney revolvers through other private vendors as well, resulting in over 10,000 Whitney Navy revolvers being used by the Army. The US Navy purchased 6,226 Whitney revolvers during 1863-1865 CONDITION: Metal retains some of its original finish. Brass trigger guard has some tarnish, grips have expected troop handling marks . Bore is relatively clean, with some light pitting near the muzzle. Tight hammer and cylinder. This is very nice Civil War Battlefield weapon, a true piece history on our way to becoming The United States.
