RARE c1859 9.4mm DEVISME PARIS Single Action Revolver Civil War CSA Antique One of the Earliest Centerfire Cartridge Revolvers!
Description: RARE c1859 9.4mm DEVISME PARIS Single Action Revolver Civil War CSA Antique One of the Earliest Centerfire Cartridge Revolvers! Here we present an antique Devisme “Model 1859” Single Action Revolver, made circa 1859 in Paris, France. Jean-Louis François Devisme was a well-known, high-quality gunmaker who was known for his award-winning and innovative designs for firearms and swords. This is one of the first centerfire metallic cartridge firearms. While the Lefaucheuxs had developed their trademark pinfire cartridges and firearms and Smith & Wesson was developing their .22 and .32 rimfire cartridges and firearms, Devisme was adapting his previous percussion revolver to centerfire use. Among his most famous clientele in North America were Confederates General Robert E. Lee, General J.E.B. Stuart, General John Bell Hood, and President Jefferson Davis. Royalty in England, Franch, Russia, and Egypt were also known to have Devisme’s weapons in their collections. This revolver is sleek and streamlined. It features 6 shots of 9.3mm centerfire. The barrel tips down upon the lever on the front being turned to the side. The top of the barrel is hand-engraved “Devisme a Paris”. The frame is marked “DEVISME BTE” with a Maltese Cross nearby. It has a flat pommel with a lanyard ring. Being put into production in 1859 some of these were used during the American Civil War. The overall condition is very good. Original patina. The action is excellent and tight. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The stocks are hand-checkered and solid. This is a fantastic and unique design that can probably be considered the very first and certainly best on the market centerfire repeater! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-1/4 inches. Caliber: 9.4mm Devisme Centerfire (.369) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $4800 #230087 SOLD Antique: Yes |
