Scarce Allen and Thurber Dragoon Size Pepperbox

FINAL PRICE DROP $650 This Allen and Thurber pepperbox dragoon is 36 cal. with 6 six inch barrels. It has the 1837 patent date on the rib and the remnants of "cast steel" on the same rib. Allen Patent is stamped on the hammer. Due to wear and light stamping the makers name is no longer visible but the date, hammer marking, trgger spur and dragoon dimensions identify it as Allen and Thurber. The floral engraving on the side plates shows wear and there is a small chip in the wooden handle. The gun function well mechanically.

These pepperboxes were known as "49ers" and were prevalent during the gold rush tears. they were also commonly used by both sides during the civil war as they were inexpensive compared to other revolvers of that period. Price is $650 with free shipping. Questions welcomed.
