Scarce Civil War US Army Remington-Beals Navy Revolver Fine Condition
Description: Serial #15550, .36 Caliber, 7 1/2" octagon barrel with a very good bore that has some spots of dark freckling and milf pitting within the grooves. This is one of about 400 to 500 Remington-Beals Navy revolvers sold to the US Army during the Civil War, and retains visible traces of the original bright blue on the breech-end of the barrel and around the loading lever pivot, especially on the left side. The balance of the metal has a mottled plum-brown patina with a few small areas of light surface pitting scattered about the metal, mostly on the forward portion of the frame and topstrap. Some muted color case-hardening is still present on the hammer, while the brass trigger guard has a mostly bright yellow-ochre patina, and some further bright original blue remains on the sides of the trigger. The walnut grips are in fine shape with very few handling marks or blemishes, and a crisp US inspector cartouche on the butt of the left panel. The action is tight and functions flawlessly. This is a very rare US marked Beals Navy and is in fine plus condition overall. Antique; SOLD Antique: Yes |
